The Hero Collection by New York Country Swag is inspired by the men and women of the Fire & Police Departments across the country. We are dedicated to honoring their service and remembering their sacrifice.
10% of each sale from this collection is donated to different organizations and charities affiliated with fire & police departments nationwide. During the month of August 2017, We raised money for The Steve Belson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Steve Belson was a surfer, a Rockaway Beach Lifeguard and a proud member of the FDNY. On September 11, 2001, Belson lost his life in the World Trade Center. The life of Steve Belson was celebrated on Saturday, August 5th with the 16th Annual Steve Belson Memorial Ocean Swim and Music Festival.
The event not only honors Belson, but serves as a fundraiser for fellow lifeguards as all money raised awards participating lifeguards with scholarship opportunities. The event kicks off on Beach 92nd Street with a half mile ocean swim, followed by live music at Bungalow Bar. During the event, New York Country Swag popped up at Bungalow and sold items from our Hero Collection, where a portion of sales was donated to The Steve Belson Memorial Scholarship Fund. New York Country Swag extended this initiative and donated 10% of all sales from countryswag.com, during the month of August, to this fund.
In addition, we added a Limited Edition Orange Line Ball Cap to our Hero Collection, dedicated to Steve Belson.

The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, known as Answer the Call for short, is the only non-profit organization that provides both immediate and ongoing support to the families of NYPD, FDNY, and PAPD heroes killed in the line of duty.
The Benefit Fund was founded in 1985 by former NY Met Daniel J. “Rusty” Staub. Since its inception, the Benefit Fund has distributed over $140 million to the families of our fallen first responders who have been killed in the line of duty. In 2017 alone, they will help approximately 580 families and will distribute over $4 million.
When our brave men and women in uniform make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our city, the Benefit Fund believes it is our duty to support the families these heroes have left behind. Their mission is to reassure these families that we will never forget about them or the sacrifice made by their loved ones.
