Quick Facts:

Full Name – Mary Kutter
Birthdate – February 5th
Hometown – Springfield, Kentucky
Current City – Nashville, Tennessee
Musical Influences – Faith Hill and Dolly Parton, as well as the storytelling of Elvis Presley
Label – BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville
Current Single – “Bed of Roses” (as of date of article: 03/30/2026)

The Beginning:

There’s few things we love more than championing badass, powerful women in country music. Today’s spotlight artist fits that description perfectly. We chatted with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville recording artist, Mary Kutter about her journey to music, her upbringing, and of course, new music. Keep reading to learn about her dynamic story.

“I grew up in central, Kentucky, literally where all the bourbon is made,” began Kutter. “I grew up a normal kiddo. Now, my mom, whenever I was six years old, she decided it would be really good for my brother and me to take piano lessons, and there was this lady Ms. Janine, who lived probably about ten minutes away from our farm, and she started giving us weekly piano lessons.”

The songstress credits her piano teacher, Ms. Janine for discovering that she could actually sing. She recalls playing with the teacher’s kittens one day and singing to them in front of her teacher. “I would sing to the kittens, and Ms. Janine was like “this girl could sing.” […] Every week I would go in and do my little piano lesson, and she would sing with me too.” Her first performance ended up being at her piano concert, where she performed a Mozart piece and then surprised the audience with her vocal rendition of the song, “Moon River.”

From then on, Kutter continued to cultivate a love of music, finding inspiration in story-telling, writing, and even classic rock music. “I do love story-telling songs. I love Reba, she has range for days, but she knows how to tell a story. I feel like Dolly Parton is the same way, but as a little girl, my daddy and I would drive thirty minutes each way to go to the grocery store, and he would crank up his favorite music, which was classic rock. […] We were listening to AC/DC, The Who, Alice Cooper, and I think that’s how I caught the bug a little bit.”

The Turning Point:

Kutter’s journey to country music happened organically and over time. While she was playing shows near her hometown and the surrounding areas, she still didn’t quite know much about the music industry or Nashville. “I never knew how to do it in a career space, but there was this fella that owned a couple of radio stations outside of Louisville, Kentucky, and we had met, when I was singing at an event that his radio station was hosting. […] Well, he wanted to have a live music variety show and he wanted me to host it, and that ended up being kinda my segway to Nashville,” shared the songstress, adding, “I didn’t have any experience doing any of that stuff, but I started hosting that show, and we had three or four guests every week, and I ended up starting to write with some of those folks in Nashville. […] I don’t think I understood how the business worked at all, but that’s how I got to, and I started writing some songs that opened up the door for me to the music world.”

For Kutter finding her place in the industry was a process; however, she knew that she always found herself in writing “Writing was an outlet for me. […] I always loved writing stories and poems and songs. I know I’m not the only person who feels this way, but sometimes we’re able to express ourselves better through music. It’s interesting that whenever I started writing for different artists that different songwriters are known for different things. […] For me, different folks wanted to pull me in to help tell their personal stories.”

Kutter’s songwriting put her on the map of major record labels in Nashville, ultimately landing her a deal this year (2026) with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.

Today:

Flash forward just two months later, the singer-songwriter is on this wild ride, working on more music and playing as many shows as she can. Her debut major-label single, “Bed of Roses” marks just the beginning for the songstress.

“I had this vague idea of a housewife murders her husbands, puts him in the back with the rose garden, and the day before the writing session, I got a phone call that was honestly really heartbreaking. There was a person I really respected in the industry for a long time. I didn’t know them personally, but my manager Adrian had called me up and said he got some bad news. He said that he had talked to them about my artistry and very long-story short, they said that they didn’t think I had the vocal chops to be an artist, that they didn’t think I was pretty enough to be an artist, and they even talked about the way I talked. I was just kinda shattered,” shared the singer.

Instead of dwelling on it (although she was heartbroken), she took herself to Nissan Stadium to see her favorite band AC/DC in concert. “I remember looking down at the stage that night, and I had never felt farther a way from the stage, literally and figuratively. All my dreams felt so far away,” she shared, adding, “It started kinda striking me that every single song that you would know the song just from the introduction and also what hit me was at the end of every chorus, at least their hits, they would have this chanting section. […] I was like “Wow I want to write a song like this.” And I text my two co-writers that I was going to write with tomorrow.”

Kutter took her pain and heartbreak into the writer’s session the next day, and “Bed of Roses” was born. “The next day happens, and the sadness had kinda turned to spice a little bit, and I start telling them what this business person had said. I said if they don’t like the way I talk, I’ll take the whole song. […] We settled on having a sung chorus and a spoken verse,” she shared. “The song kinda turned into a metaphor for me, killing off the negative voices and burying them.”

The single is just the beginning for Kutter, and we cannot wait to see what she unveils next. Stay tuned!

Written by Cooke with Ashley Gorley, Will Weatherly, and Emily Weisband, “xs” captures heartbreak and lessons learned throughout relationships. In typical Ashley Cooke fashion, the songstress strings in clever wordplay through the song, adding to the overall catchiness of the track.

“Some things are common sense // One leads to the other // Like if you crack that door open // You’ll end up under covers // With a downtown girl you said I didn’t need to worry about // Warned you this would happen baby // Whiskey nights wandering eyes make messes // Hiding phones, “I don’t knows” make questions // Towns talk and the truth starts spreading // And don’t you know crossing lines makes Xs // Oh don’t deny I know you did it // Oh doesn’t matter how you spin it // Want me back after that forget it // Don’t you know crossing lines makes Xs”

Cooke continues to be one to look out for! “xs” showcases everything we have grown to love the most from the artist. It has heart, honesty, and a catchy melody that draws you in, no matter the topic. Make sure to listen ASAP!

Brantley Gilbert Shares New Song “GOOD DAMN” Out Now

Brantley Gilbert shares brand new song, “GOOD DAMN,” out now, March 27th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new song below.

Brantley Gilbert has been a staple in the country music genre for over a decade now, and he shows no signs of slowing down. With his new label home, BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, Gilbert is embarking on a a brand new era of his career. Today, the singer-songwriter releases his first single under the new label. “GOOD DAMN” is officially out now.

Written by Gilbert with Brock Berryhill, Taylor Phillips, and HARDY, “GOOD DAMN” is easily one of the best songs in the singer’s catalog. Full of simmering romance, swagger, and story-telling, the new song captures the tension and the spark of the one that got away.  “It’s a song about shooting your shot. Long story short.”” shared Gilbert in a recent press release. “We weren’t really trying to write a number one because we didn’t ever think we’d get one. We were just trying to write a good song, and that was the approach I can honestly say we took on the majority of these,” Gilbert recently told Katie Neal when discussing his upcoming album. “It was more about, ‘hey, let’s write a cool song and let it be what it wants to be.’”

If “GOOD DAMN” is any inclination of what’s to come for Gilbert, he’s in for a monumental year and fans are in for a real treat. Make sure to stream the new song ASAP!

Morgan Evans ‘Steel Town’ – Album Review

Morgan Evans new album, Steel Town is out now, March 20th on all streaming platforms. Take a listen and read our full review below.

Nearly seven years since the release of his debut album, 2018’s Things That We Drink To, Morgan Evans is back with his sophomore album, Steel Town. Inspired by the coastal Australian town where he grew up, the album is the result of years of reflection, introspection, and growth.

The result is a buoyant, sonically-rich collection that doubles as both a celebration of life and a reclamation of freedom for an artist who has weathered intense public scrutiny. Throughout its eleven tracks, Evans sounds like a weight has been lifted from him, truly free for the first time.

Evans co-wrote every track on the record, enlisting collaborators like William Barton and Laci Kaye Booth for two of its standout moments. Barton, a fellow Australian, brings a striking sense of atmosphere to “Back to Country,” a gorgeously understated instrumental interlude that feels like a deep exhale, offering a simple moment of stillness before moving forward.

Booth, meanwhile, lends her honeyed vocals to “Two Broken Hearts,” a soulful, aching ballad about two people finding comfort in each other while knowing it won’t last. Originally written as a solo, the track takes on new emotional depth as a duet. “This song still hits me like the day I wrote it,” Evans shared. “It wasn’t written as a duet, but Lace’s voice took it somewhere I couldn’t have imagined on my own.”

“Two broken hearts find their way to each other // Feeling their way through the dark // Two broken hearts healing under the covers // To keep ’em from falling apart // Sometimes, where it ends is where love starts again// But we both know that ain’t where we are.”

Much of Steel Town takes listeners to the coastal Australian town in which Evans grew up. There’s the jubilant title cut, as well as “Land I Love,” an anthemic celebration of home. “Growing up round Newy, as a kid, and a musician, it was a beautiful place, but also a tough place, that built a character and resilience that I’ve taken with me around the world,” he shares. “Now, having been in Nashville for 10 years, I have an even greater love and respect for the place that raised me and welcomed me home when I needed it the most. On this album, I’ve finally found that balance of pride and earnest that I can share and sing with complete authenticity.”

“I had to get out of town,” Evans continues. “I needed something real. Old mates, familiar places, and salt water. I reconnected with where I came from, who I was, who I want to be.”

That longing for simplicity comes through on “Beer Back Home,” a feel-good, singalong ode to small-town comfort, while “Another Drink Coming” leans into ragtime-tinged piano and barroom storytelling. Together, they capture the warmth and familiarity of places where time seems to slow down.

“She Talks About Texas” and “The Farm” find him celebrating a different type of home: one that’s found in a person and not a place. On the mid-tempo “Texas,” he spins the clever lyrical analogy, declaring, “I talk about her, the way she talks about Texas,” while “The Farm” is a declaration of optimism in a new relationship. On the tender and melodic country two-step, he muses, “I’d bet the farm on us.”

He steps most clearly outside of his comfort zone on “Letting You Go,” an airy pop-rock track that sounds fresh out of the early 2000’s, in the best way possible. Here, he stretches himself vocally, reaching new highs as he harmonizes with a gang vocal of background singers.

“Forgiving You For Me” delivers an especially poignant moment, finding him letting go and forgiving someone in order to move forward. “I guess I’ll learn to let it go, free this poison from my soul” He sings, his voice laced with emotion. “If this is how it’s gonna be, I’m forgiving you for me.”

The album ends with the gorgeously poignant “Settle It Down,” an introspective ballad about finding the person that makes you want to settle down. It’s a confessional, piano-driven ballad about a rambling man ready to stop “running this wild horse heart right into the ground.” It’s the perfect final chapter of Steel Town, forward looking and optimistic for the next chapter while closing another.

On Steel Town, Morgan Evans is at his finest. The collection pairs jubilant melodies and brilliant lyricism, setting Evans free. It’s not just a reflection on where he’s been, but a confident step toward where he’s headed next.

Steel Town Track List:

  1. Steel Town (Ava Supplessa, Sam Ellis, Morgan Evans)
  2. Beer Back Home (Cole Miracle, KK Johnson, Morgan Evans)

Here Is Atlus’ Major Label Debut Album ‘Art Of Letting Go’

Atlus makes major-label full-length debut with his new album, Art Of Letting Go, out now, March 20th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new project here.

At the top of the year, we introduced you to an artist that we love because of his raw honesty and grit. The recording artist is as talented as they come, and it’s only a matter of time before everyone knows his name. Today, Atlus makes his major label debut with his brand new album, Art Of Letting Go.

With fifteen songs all co-written by the singer-songwriter, Art Of Letting Go is an incredibly cohesive project that speaks to Atlus’ life experience. According to the singer in a recent press release, “This album is honest and unbelievably personal. Like the experiences that inspired the songs, some are fun and some are intense. Making this record, I truly let go of a lot of the fears, pain, trauma, and things I’ve been carrying with me for years and there is an art to that. I used to stay in those painful moments. This time, it’s about moving through the moments and beyond the experiences that shaped me, both as a person and as an artist.”

Make sure to give Art Of Letting Go a listen ASAP!
