Dylan Marlowe is emerging as one of country music’s biggest rising stars. As fans await the release of his debut project, Mid-Twenties Crisis, out September 27th, Marlowe is sharing another taste of the new album. His brand new song, “Heart Brakes” is officially out now.
Marlowe has successfully released music that tugs at our heartstrings, tells a story, and is fun to listen to. “Heart Brakes” is a combination of the latter two. Cleverly written with enticing instrumentals and a catchy chorus, “Heart Brakes” paints the picture of not being able to quit a relationship that has run its course. It’s an all-too familiar anecdote of wrestling with the back and forth with what you should do and what your heart is telling you to do.

We chatted with country singer, Thomas Rhett about his new album, About A Woman, out Friday, August 23rd. Here are five things to expect from the upcoming project.
Thomas Rhett purposely and intentionally decided to make the About A Woman project a smaller batch of songs than many artists are doing lately.
“Picking 14 songs was really complicated for me. […] It’s become really popular to put 20, 30, 40 songs, double album, triple albums, and I think for me, there’s so much music that comes out everyday, and especially every Friday that when I see records that have 20 or more songs on them, I’m like I don’t know if I can sit and listen to that in one sitting, so I wanted it to be a very digestible record. […] The sequencing part is always so long because as a songwriter, I write so many songs.”
The record was titled About A Woman because of the chosen songs and thanks to Rhett’s wife, Lauren’s challenge to write more upbeat love songs.
“I think once I started listening through all the songs, they had a very common theme. They really all were about a moment I had in my relationship with my own right. [Lauren told me] I love when you write songs about me, but I wish they weren’t all slow all the time.”
Eric Church has always been a big inspiration to Rhett, and it is the most evident it’s ever been on his new song, “Church.”
“Hints of Eric Church are all over the record. He was the soundtrack of my teenage years. He was my version of what Zach Bryan is today. […] When I heard this song, it was genuinely my story reincarnated with my wife.”
There is one outside cut on the record called “Country for California” which happens to be a heartbreak song penned by John Morgan.
“I think I’m always looking for songs that I wouldn’t innately write in a session. I think I’ve recorded maybe two heartbreak songs in my whole career. “Marry Me” being one of them, which happened to be a big hit for us. […] When I’m listening to heartbreak songs, I’m listening for something that has melody and also makes me feel happy in a way like “Crash and Burn” did that for me, where it felt so sad, but also made me want to dance.”
While Rhett is known for his incredible ballads, the superstar only included one ballad on the record, a song called “I Could Spend Forever Loving You,” which is both timeless and fitting for the theme of the record.
“It killed me to only put one ballad on the record, but now that I’ve lived with it for a while, I’m so glad that there’s one, and it’s the last one. And I wrote that song with my buddy Ernest. […] What I loved about it, was that it was so simple, and reminded me of just the facts of ‘I don’t know how to say this to you, but I want to spend my entire life with you.’”

13 million albums and 95 million digital singles sold in the US, mixed in with 10 Billboard Music Awards and 10 Grammy-nominations, makes Post Malone one of the most successful artists of the 2010s/2020s. The rapper garnered fame after his single “White Iverson” went viral on SoundCloud in 2015, and five studio albums later, his Texas roots finally broke through and convinced him to release his debut country project, F-1 Trillion.
When you’re as popular as Post Malone, it’s very easy to find other artists to collaborate with. He’s already been on songs with the biggest names in pop/hip-hop including 21 Savage, Future, Halsey, Swae Lee, Doja Cat, Noah Kahan, and Taylor Swift, to name a few. When Nashville’s stars caught wind of this project, they were eager to contribute. By now, you should know of his massive, number one single “I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen, and potentially his other pre-releases with Blake Shelton and Luke Combs. Across these 18 tracks, there are 15 total features, including ones with HARDY, Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton, Dolly Parton, and more.
Among the new ones, “Wrong Ones” with Tim McGraw and “Losers” with Jelly Roll are standouts. The former has an outlaw country sound, as Post expresses his frustration with his recent love interests. Jelly Roll made the perfect pairing on the latter, a pop-inspired sing-along about being the outcast in a crowd. Jelly Roll, himself, was a rapper who crossed the border into country music.
“Come kick it with the losers // The outcasts and the sinners // The ain’t-never-been-no-winners // Let’s hear it for the losers // Ain’t got nowhere to fit in // There’s a place you can always get in”
Post Malone showcases his ability to do traditional country in “Never Love Again,” featuring Sierra Ferrell. Full of steel and fiddle, the singer asks this woman for forgiveness as he’s walking away, knowing he will never love her again. “Hide My Gun” with HARDY is another slow, but fun, romantic tune where the protagonist admits he’d kill a man for this woman, but only if she’d cover for him and conceal the evidence.
“Would you hide my gun? Would you tell no one? // Would you pack your never-comin’-back-again bag? // If the three-times-four’s bangin’ at our door, would you stall and let me slip out the back?”
Of the solo tracks, “What Don’t Belong To Me” is a brilliantly written song about how he doesn’t have enough heart left for his current love interest—he used it all on whiskey, one-night stands, and rockstar living. The album closer, “Yours,” was written for Post’s two-year-old daughter at her future wedding. In this tear-jerker, the singer proclaims that no matter who she ends up marrying, she will always be his girl.
Post Malone fan or not, you must admit that he excelled at his first attempt at country music and surpassed all expectations. He showed he can do it all, covering all styles of the genre wonderfully. While we don’t know what’s next for Post, after listening to F-1 Trillion, we would be honored to have him stay in industry for a long time.

Country music boasts many incredible duos. The Reklaws, comprised of siblings Jenna and Stuart Walker are already a success in Canada, and are making waves in the United States now! The Canadian country act have found success on America’s Got Talent, and continue to share music that fans are flocking to in droves. On the heels of their success, the singer-songwriters shared their newest song, “One Beer Away,” back in June. Today the duo is dropping a 3-pack project featuring “One Beer Away” and two new songs, “All The Time” and “If I Drink Enough.”
While “One Beer Away” is a summer-ready anthem that equally spotlights both members of The Reklaws, the two new songs highlight their individual talents as well. “All The Time” spotlights Stuart’s stellar vocals, bringing a rock flavor to their electric music style. Lyrically, the song expresses heartbreak and missed opportunity in a way that feels relatable and easy to understand.
On the other hand, Jenna’s shining moment comes in “If I Drink Enough.” On the new song, The Reklaws showcase a more pop-country flavor with some rhythmic flairs. “If I Drink Enough” feels current and nostalgic, a song that would easily get stuck in your head again and again.

“Broken Heart Thing” is a heartbreaking and honest anecdote about how it feels to be nursing a broken heart. Through the push-pull of the song, fans hear the perspective from the woman and the man, as they both find their own ways to cope with the unthinkable. While many songs touch on heartbreak and break-ups, Merlo and Lynch’s new song shows the perspective of someone who’s still getting used to it, someone who maybe has never nursed a broken heart before. The song feels special and vulnerable.

Today, Underwood and Papa Roach reimagine a Papa Roach classic, breathing new life into the song, “Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark).”
Papa Roach has always been a band that believes in raising awareness for mental health, specifically for suicide prevention. The song continues their mission in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), who will receive royalties generated from both artists from the song, in perpetuity. Both Papa Roach and Underwood bring their absolute heart and soul to the new rendition, and we can only hope fans will support the duet.

For rising star Conner Smith, his new EP, Smoky Mountain Sessions, finds him getting back to the basics. With a stripped down approach, the Nashville native focuses on lyrics and melody on the four tracks, all of which he wrote or co-wrote.
For the Valory Music Co. project, Smith enlisted musical heavyweight Dwight A. Baker to produce the project in just four days. Working with his touring band, the EP was recorded at Echo Mountain Studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
“Smoky Mountains Sessions came from a desire to get back to the core of songwriting. With these new songs, two of which I wrote by myself, I wanted to create them in a way that felt very raw and honest,” shares Smith. “Working with Dwight Baker for the first time on this project, we took my band up to Echo Mountains in Asheville and brought these songs to life over the course of four days. This collection is just the beginning of more new music on the way I can’t wait to share!”
The EP opens with “Boys in the Picture,” a snapshot of small-town living, surrounded by friends and all the troubles boys get in as they grow up. Likewise, the catchy “Songs for Tennessee” takes Smith back to his roots in a swinging and fun celebration of Smith’s home state. Chock full of slide guitars and fiddles, the track is an immediate standout, grabbing a listener’s attention. “This song’s for the homeland, The good ol’ folks that made me,” He sings. “The song in my heart is a song for Tennessee.”
“Thousand Miles Away” is a romantic ode to a long-distance relationship, and dreaming of the day they can be together in the same place. “I won’t have to spend most my days feeling like my heart is a thousand miles away,” He croons longingly, before the EP ends with a new take on Smith’s collaboration with Hailey Whitters, “Roulette on the Heart.” While the duet itself is powerful in any form, the stripped down versions adds a new depth of ache as the pair deal with the woes of an on-again, off-again dalliance.
“Are you tryin’ to love me // Are you tryin’ to kill me // Every night with you is a shot in the dark // You touch me with a whisper, kiss me like a stranger // Holdin’ somebody shouldn’t be this hard // Oh and I know this game ends one of two ways // Are you gonna break me // Are you gonna save me // Lovin’ you baby is roulette on the heart”
On his new EP, Smoky Mountain Sessions, Conner Smith breaks things down and goes back to the basics with a simple song-focused collection that shows a different side to the rising star.
