We first introduced you to MaRynn Taylor nearly two years ago as a twenty-year-0ld rising artist with so much promising talent. Lately, the music she is sharing, like her song and current single at country radio, “Make You Mine,” is showcasing her growth as an artist and songwriter. Today, the singer-songwriter shares another new song with fans called, “Shakin’ In My Boots.”

Written by Taylor with Dan Wilson, and Ava Suppelsa and produced by Josh Kerr, “Shakin’ In My Boots” is a fun-loving and flirty anthem. The song depicts meeting someone who has got you excited for what’s to come. The music video showcases Taylor getting ready for a date and doing all the relatable things while getting ready. She dances and sings into her hairbrush, tries on a bunch of outfits, and even plays with her pup.

One of our favorites, Adam Doleac continues to give fans more new songs in this new era of music. Gifted at crafting meaningful lyrics and displaying raw emotion in his music, Doleac’s brand new song, “Don’t Make Me Get Over You” fits the bill.

Inspired by music by John Mayer, “Don’t Make Me Get Over You” feels like an incredible countrified version of a Mayer song. The song illuminates how it feels to be in a on and off again relationship. It speaks to all the emotions of falling in and out of love. While the song feels melancholy, there is also some hope weaved throughout the touching new song.

Brett Young: ‘Across The Sheets’ Album Review

With eight new tracks, country crooner Brett Young is back and better than ever with Across the Sheets, out now. On his fourth studio album, the singer-songwriter continues to perfect his unique brand of soulful pop country, stretching himself vocally and lyrically.

“I really dug deep with my writing over the pandemic,” He reveals in a statement. “Across The Sheets is by far the most adventurous I’ve ever gotten thematically and lyrically. I hope people hear my evolution as a songwriter and artist because I’m really proud of how much I allowed myself to pull back the curtain and let people see more of my life through my music. We’ve been playing the new songs on tour and to see how fans have already connected with them is truly special.”

For the California native, the album’s title was inspired by a theme that makes its way throughout the lyrics of the octet, inspired by “the person you want to share everything with, the one you lay your head down with every night.” This is abundantly clear on romantic tracks like the wedding-ready “Dance With You,” inspired by his relationship with his wife, Taylor. “They say, ‘life’s a dance,’ and if that’s the truth,” He croons in swoon-worthy fashion, “I only wanna dance with you.” The track is the perfect opener for the album, reminding listeners of Young’s unique blend of country pop, mixing twangy guitars with his soulful voice and powerful lyrics.

On the special new collection, the Big Machine Label Group artist co-wrote all but one track, a stirring take on the song that inspired him to pursue music, Tim McGraw’s classic “Don’t Take the Girl.” While he stays fairly true to the original, he does add a few vocal flourishes that make it uniquely his. The emotion on the meaningful track is obvious for the singer who is both a husband and a girl dad.

“Uncomfortable,”“Love Goes On,” and a re-recording of “You Ain’t Here to Kiss Me” each find him shining in his vulnerability. On “Uncomfortable,” he admits that, even after many years together, his wife still makes him nervous in all the best ways. Alternatively, “Love Goes On” is a moving track about how love can continue and unexpectedly return, even after a heartbreak. Here, Young is moving on with trepidation, learning from a new love that “a heart can heal after it breaks.”

“I Did This to Me” and “Back to Jesus” both offer more up-tempo moments on the LP, with “I Did This” allowing Young to stretch his voice over a groovy, toe-tapping melody. “If I had gotten over myself,” He growls. “I wouldn’t be getting over you now.” While “I Did This to Me” is about a relationship ending, “Back to Jesus” is a celebration of the women who are in Young’s life, making him a better man with the ability to love “this sinner back to Jesus.”

Meanwhile, “Let Go Too Soon” is a clear standout, finding him pondering the demise of a relationship, wondering if they gave up too soon. It’s a stirring mid-tempo track that’s bound to top the charts. “I’ve been going out with friends // I’ve been drinking too much whiskey // Burning candles at both ends // But nothing seems to fix me,” He sings. “’Cause no matter what I do // I still wake up missing you // Do you do that too? // Did we let go, did we let go? // Did we let go too soon?”

On Across the Sheets, Brett Young offers a mix of old and new tracks that allow him to shine as both a singer and a lyricist.

King Calaway: ‘Tennessee’s Waiting’ Album Review

Since bursting onto the music scene with their 2019 album, Rivers, King Calaway has been one of music’s hottest new acts. Now, the quartet is back with their sophomore album on BBR Music, Tennessee’s Waiting.

For the band, comprised of Chris Deaton, Simon Dumas, Chad Michael Jervis, and Caleb Miller, the album shows their evolution as individual artists and as a band. Produced by Zac Brown and featuring collaborations with Hailey Whitters and Marcus King, the LP continues to mix incredible harmonies with powerful lyrics and intoxicating melodies.

“It’s been 4 years now since the release of our debut album, in that time, we’ve experienced a lot of change and growth as individuals and as a band,” revealed the band in a statement. “Our style and approach to music has evolved. We became stronger songwriters and performers, and we’ve finally made Tennessee feel like home. It felt right for us to name this record ‘Tennessee’s Waiting’ because of the connection we’ve made to our new home and the communities within. This album tells our stories the best way we can, and we’re excited to finally share it with the world.”

The album is a solid mix of sixteen new songs, ranging from the uber anthemic country pop of “I’m Feelin’ Good (Steve Miller Band)” to the introspective and bombastic Little Big Town-esque “Ease My Troubled Mind” and from the stirring longing-for home title track to the ode to young love featuring Hailey Whitters on “Let It Flow.”

There’s also a stirring cover of the Vince Gill classic “When I Call Your Name,” that doesn’t stray too far from the original, in a good way. While the falsetto-laden Gill classic is a masterpiece, King Calaway’s version is punctuated by the quartet’s stunning harmonies, especially on the track’s latter half.

Collaborations are also a highlight of the album, including Marcus King on the moody “Heathen,” Whitters on the aforementioned “Let It Flow,” and Brown on the stunning “When I Get Home.” The Brown collab features the singer’s distinct voice on the second verse, elevating an already incredible song even further. In fact, the song would not have sounded out of place on a ZBB album, building to a powerful bridge remnant of hits like “Colder Weather” or “Free.”

The pairing with Marcus King is also an unexpected gem, allowing the guys of King Calaway to explore a darker and moodier sound as they proclaim “You’re just a heathen.” The bluesy anthem features a blistering guitar solo from King, and some incredible female background vocals, hearkening back to some of Eric Church’s most incredible live moments.

Conversely, “Dive Bar” is an airy and lush dose of optimism, finding them longing for a world that’s more like a local haunt. “Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all get together on a Saturday night?” They ask, longing for a place of inclusion and acceptance where people “Might walk in as strangers // we walk out friends // We find we’re not as different as we think we are // If this world was a dive bar.”

Anthemic pop-leaning up-tempo songs include “Hometown Night,” “High Cost of Loving You,” “Best Thing About Me Now,” and “I’m Feelin’ Good (Steve Miller Band),” which the group reveals is especially electric. “It’s one of our favorites to play live because the crowd’s energy and reaction to it is just unmatched. We had a great time laying it down in the studio and experimenting with some Steve Miller inspired sounds.

Likewise, “Best Thing About Me Now” is chock full of catchy melodies and upbeat instrumentation, as they celebrate someone special. “When you came around, my life turned around,” They sing. “The best thing about me now is you.”

Breakups are also a theme that pervade tracks like “What I Know Now,” which find the foursome grappling with hindsight, while “Denim Jacket” has them asking for their things back after a relationship ends, save for one special memento.

“The Other Half” is an especially great moment, a moody ballad that finds them torn between longing and moving on. “I think we’ve all had someone in our lives that we’ve thought we’ve moved on from, but a part of us was still holding on for dear life. ‘The Other Half’ is about that feeling,” shares Jervis. “Recording this one came so naturally because we knew how we wanted it to sound from the start. Combining our influences of bands like the Eagles to adding big guitar solos and a wall of harmonies and acoustic guitars, we wanted to do the most we could on this one and just have fun. I think you can hear that on the record.”

The album’s closing track, “The Dash,” is also an introspective gem, looking back at one’s life as it comes to an end. “‘Cause when the good Lord calls me home // and it’s just me and my restless soul // waiting up there by the pearly gates // when they carve my name in stone // and they plant that rock upon my bones // I won’t give a damn about the dates,” They harmonize gorgeously. “It ain’t the day that I was born or the day that I passed // It’s all the living that I did in the dash.”

On Tennessee’s Waiting, King Calaway continues to show why they’ve repeatedly been named one of country music’s artists to watch. With their unique and stellar harmonies, introspective lyrics, and earwormy melodies, there’s no sign of a sophomore slump here.

Hailey Whitters: ‘I’m In Love’ EP Review

Hailey Whitters announced her new EP and subsequently released the title track “I’m In Love” and opening “Tie’r Down” this month. These two are sunny and airy, like a cup of sweet tea on a summer day. The rest of the EP follows this, but as usual, Whitters sets the songwriting bar high.

No amount of pedal steel and banjo are spared, and every song sounds like Hailey. Even if one were to compare it to Shania Twain or Trisha Yearwood or even Keith Whitley – she truly has her own unique sonic universe.

“Countryside Chick” is dreamy and lovely. There’s a great recall from Whitters’ junior album Raised; the final track, “In A Field Somewhere”, is playfully mentioned in the very first verse here. “Countryside Chick” is like the title track of Raised’s older sister. “I’m a little more hold on tight // Rest of your life not rest of your night.”

Whitters also knows how to pick great songs that sound like they were written by her. That’s a talent on its own. “I’m In Love” and “Mellencamp” were both written by the legendary (and Whitters’ labelhead) Nicolle Galyon. The latter is that kind of classic country name drop song, and could easily be written off as being overdone. Yet, it is clever and surprisingly feels like a realistic snapshot of Whitters’ own life and relationship. Sonically, the song is irresistible. It’s wistful and exciting all at the same time.“Bad Love” is familiarly Whitters lyrically and melodically. She is always great at turning the simplest of phrases on their heads and finding double entendres.

It’s impressive to see Whitters evolve into her own while remaining consistently authentic. She truly is a one of a kind artist.

A year and a half after his debut album, Backslider, Elvie Shane is back with more original music. He recently released his new song, “Forgotten Man” and “Baptized.” Now the singer-songwriter is following up the release with his new song, “Jonesin’.”

In a recent press release, Shane shared, “”Jonesin'” is all about our vices and failures in the pursuit of satisfaction and happiness. It came with the realization that you could have everything you’ve ever dreamed of and still be left feeling empty at times. That’s just life. But that void can be a beautiful thing when used as fuel. It can piss you off enough to quit the bad habits or fire you up enough to chase the seemingly unattainable.”

“Jonesin’ puts all of Shane’s talents to the forefront. The country-rock anthem feels honest, dark, and enticing. With each lyric and complementary instrumental, the singer shares a compelling story about life, habits, and everything in between. While the song is definitely relatable, Shane’s vocals are a standout on the new track.

Mitchell Tenpenny Drops New Song “Bigger Mistakes” Out Now

Singer-songwriter, Mitchell Tenpenny is coming off an extensive, 20-track album released last September that was full of fun and relatable stories. Tenpenny creates similar vibes with “Bigger Mistakes” and it’s the perfect song to aid listeners through a break-up. The Nashville-native admits several mistakes he has made in his past, all of which carry more weight than her leaving. The singer wants to assure this woman knows that he is well over their relationship.

“I’ve had so much more to lose // Hate to say it, baby, but you’re old news // I don’t even think about you when I’ve had a few // So get over yourself // I’ve made bigger mistakes than you”

Tenpenny co-wrote “Bigger Mistakes” with some of the industry’s most accomplished writers including Chris DeStefano (“That’s My Kinda Night,” “Eyes On You”) and Josh Kerr (“Before He Cheats,” “Need You Now”). The two have over 30 numbers combined. Michael Whitwork, who has cuts all over Tenpenny’s discography, also contributed to the track. Tenpenny’s powerful vocals shine through the heavy, upbeat production.

“I’ve always loved Carly Simon’s ‘You’re So Vain’ because of the line ‘you’re so vain you probably think this song is about you.’ That line just cuts to the core,” the “Drunk Me” singer explained. “Some people like to think the world revolves around them and I wanted to write a song that was a reminder that isn’t the case. ‘Bigger Mistakes’ is about realizing that there are bigger and more important things in life than a breakup. The song is a reminder that you’ve gone through harder times and the future can be bright.”

Fans can expect this to be the first taste of a bigger project from Tenpenny. For now, they can catch him on the Highway Desperado Tour this summer/fall with Jason Aldean. For tickets, head to his website.

Hailey Whitters announced her new EP and subsequently released the title track “I’m In Love” earlier this month. “Tie’r Down”, the second song from the project is just as spirited and sonically nostalgic as Whitter fans would hope.

“Tie’r Down” could have easily been a single in the 90s – think “When” by Shania Twain meets “She’s In Love With The Boy” by Trisha Yearwood – with its banjo and pedal steel instrumental intro and foot-tapping drums. The lyrics are strong and sincere and continue a narrative that Whitters has been creating in songs like “Plain Jane” and “All The Cool Girls”.

“She’s got a mind of her own // A gold heart ’round her neck // If you don’t love her at her worst // Then you don’t get her at her best // She wants a one woman man // In a two horse town // Yeah, she might tie the knot // But you can’t tie’r down”

The I’m In Love EP, which follows her junior album Raised is out Friday, July 28th. With songs like “I’m In Love” and “Tie’r Down”, we get to take a trip down memory lane alongside Whitters.
